Friday 11th April saw the first outing for Dave Billington’s Van Diemen RF86 ff1600 after its winter rebuild. A lovely day weather wise but a very busy day out on circuit due to the capacity entry the following day. To exaggerate the problem of finding space out on the circuit, we were on the shortest layout of the track or Fosters circuit. Our first session went very well with Dave soon getting back into the groove and he posted some …
Friday 9th April and I was once more back at Oulton for of the very popular MSV-T Track Days, a busy day with lots of coaching sessions booked. High light of my day was blasting around the circuit in this very quick Radical: mega!!
The day after Bruntingthorpe and I was back at Oulton Park for another of MSV’s retail days. This is where the public get the opportunity of driving not only a high performance road car around the picturesque Cheshire circuit but also get the chance to pilot a single seater racing car as well. My role for the day was to be in charge of allocating drivers into the single seaters ensuring they were all safely strapped in etc before they …
SAturday saw me heading down to Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire for one of 6th Gear’s supercar experience day. This track boasts a 2 mile long runway and is still used by a lot of manufacturer’s for endurance testing & high speed work. Planes still use this venue for landing/taking off, so driving around the circuit is quite unusual with lots ex-passenger jets as a back drop. My car for the day was an Audi R8 and was very popular so I was …
Following an extensive winter rebuild, Dave Billington’s Van Diemen RF86 formula ford is ready to go, our first outing should be the day before the first round of the Northern FF1600 Championship at Oulton Park on Friday 11th April. Can’t wait!
Although I didn’t have any drivers out, I was down at Oulton Park giving both Mario Sarchet & David Murphy a hand during the first test day of the year. A damp track soon dried & some very quick times were posted. I spent most of the afternoon “corner spotting” for both Mario & David at Cascades and it seemed to work with both drivers seeing an improvement in their lap times from earlier in the day.
Thursday and I was back at my local circuit Oulton Park. The day was a corporate event for two local companies. As is the norm on days like this we were on the Island circuit layout and I was in the JPLM ride car. The track was a little tricky in the morning being still wet from overnight rain, but by lunchtime it had dried sufficiently to put on slicks. Great fun but hard work having completed nearly 70 laps …
another busy day down at Drive-Me in Stafford. This time I was alternating between two cars: the Mitsubishi Evo and the Subaru Imprezza. Both in full WRC replica trim.
Saturday saw me heading down to Stafford foe one of Drive-Me’s super car experience days.Really busy day met lots of interesting people, weather was a little mixed so I was really glad I had a roof over my head all day.
Friday 21st March and I was at Oulton Park for another of their slickly run MSV-T trackdays. Another busy day with a huge varied field of cars taking part. No major incidents during the day and lots of happy customers! Plenty of interest in ARDS tests again. Another good day all in all. Spent some of my time coaching in this gorgeous Lamborghini, what an amazing car, beautiful to look at and fantastic to be in !
