The first round of the pre-90 championship for the Northern Championship for DB Motorsport drivers Ian Ellis & Will Alterman took place on the Fosters circuit at Oulton Park. After qualifying, Ian lined up in 11th place with team mate Will two further places back in 13th. As the red lights went out, Will made an excellent start and with the first two rows eliminated in a first corner accident, he came round in an unbelievable 2nd place! At this point, the safety car was put out whilst the damaged cars were removed. Will ran 2nd for a few laps when the race was restarted. Will hung on for as long as he could and eventually finished an excellent 5th place overall and 3rd in class. Unfortunately, Ian lost a few places at the start and as he was making his way back up through the field he collided with another car and damaged the front suspension on his Reynard. This left a short break to repair Ian’s car for the second race later that afternoon. With Ian’s car repaired, and Will lining up 5th, they were high hopes for this second race. Will had a good, solid race and finished 7th and Ian was running just behind Will when another car ran into the rear of him puncturing a rear tyre. Although Ian retired to the pits on the final lap, he did cross the line and was classified 12th !
