Following a successful 2016: Scott upgraded his licence and is itching to get out in his own car for the first time. Scott’s outings have all been in Dave Billington’s RF86 and having  purchased an RF85 for himself, hopefully the experience he’s gained will be invaluable.

Dave Billington’s car is undergoing a full rebuild before the 2017 season begins. This includes some chassis work and a new floor. Dave’s engine is away at Neil Bold’s being refreshed.

The first round of the pre-90 championship for the Northern Championship for DB Motorsport drivers Ian Ellis & Will Alterman took place on the Fosters circuit at Oulton Park. After qualifying, Ian lined up in 11th place with team mate Will two further places back in 13th. As the red lights went out, Will made an excellent start and with the first two rows eliminated in a first corner accident, he came round in an unbelievable 2nd place! At this …

After a comprehensive winter rebuild, Ian Ellis’s Reynard was ready to take to the track on a semi-exclusive test day at Oulton Park. As a semi-exclusive day, overall numbers are strictly limited and the day is run in a very similar way to an open pitlane trackday. This was ideal for Ian’s first run out in the car: plenty of seat time to get back into a rhythm. The day was completed without any major dramas: we had a small …

As most North West Formula Ford enthusiasts will know, Gus has been my mascot for as long as I’ve been competing (since 1985!) with more than one car in the DB Motorsport stable, the hunt was on to increase our stock of mascots and to find Gus a new colleague. Well, the search is over! The new mascot debuted at the final round at Oulton Park in October 2014. A name has yet to be determined for the latest addition …

With 3 cars to get ready for 2015 season, work has started in earnest!! First of all, it was Ian Ellis’s car whose full rebuild was completed late December. Ian’s chassis has had a full strip down, re-powder coated, all alloy panels replaced, full engine & gearbox rebuild. It will be nearly 2 years since Ian has been out in this car and his champing at the bit to get going! Next up it’s Dave Billington’s Van Diemen. Dave’s car …

Saturday saw DB Motorsport over at Oulton Park for the running of the latest round of the BRSCC’s Nothern FF1600 Championship. Today was the first time we had 2 cars out: Will Alterman in his Reynard and Dave Billington in his Van Diemen. Both cars were entered in the very popular pre-90 class and both had elected to take part in the invitation race that saw pre & post cars running together. We had an amazing day with both drivers …

Friday saw back in the passenger seat of one the famous BAT Caterham R300’s. This was a busy corporate event that was hosted by Paul O’Neil (current ITV Touring Car commentator). Incorporated within a normal track day, the action comes thick and fast. We have to brief and coach the drivers and then accompany them out on track. We are normally allocated 3 drivers per car and usually stick with the same people all day. This gives us a great …

29th May saw another first for me: a trip down to Goodwood for a customer hire event. This is where a customer hires one of  BookaTrack’s Caterham R300’s to use on any trackday in the UK. I was asked to trailer 2 cars down there ( 1 extra in case I needed a spare ) and liase with the client on arrival. I discovered that it was a private event, with some very exotic cars circulating. However, the R300 created …

A day off from coaching was spent working on the most recent addition to the “DB Motorsprot” Team: in the form of Will Alterman’s Reynard 89FF. This was the first time that I’d really got to grips with this model of FF1600 since the days when I used to prepare my own chassis of the same type. It was a real “blast from the past” and I managed to finished the car before its first outing at Oulton Park in …
