Bank Holiday Monday and I was down at Oulton Park helping out with the enormous crowds that always attend this very popular event. An interesting day to actually see what goes on behind the scenes during this very busy event. A huge crowd cheered on their favorite riders. I’ve never seen so many motorbikes in one place!

That weekend I was over at 3-Sisters near Wigan for a weekend of Supercar Experience driving with the Race School. This is a track I know very well having sprinted here many times in my Formula Ford. In fact, my claim to fame is that I once held the class record there for about 5 minutes… but that’s another story!! This weekend I was in one of the School’s Red Ferrari 360’s always a popular choice for the customers to …

The day after Silverstone, I was travelling back up the M6 stopping off at the BookaTrack HQ to help out on another busy trackday and evening session. Huge amounts of varied machinery out on track with finding a clear space a bit of a challenge! Fortunately, everyone was very courteous out on track and there were no incidents to report. The day was used by a lot of competitors who were out competing in that coming weekend’s Historic meeting. So, …

I was down at Silverstone on 1st May helping out with one of BookaTrack R300 Corporate Events. We had 2 cars out, busy day out on track with several other corporate events being run up & down the pitlane. Great opportunity to drive on the full GP circuit. Had a great time: discovered that 2 of the drivers lived only 10 mins from me! How bizarre can you get?!

A weekend of Supercar Experience days lay ahead at Rockingham circuit near Corby. For both days I was asked to look after the Audi R8 always a popular car amongst the clients and this weekend was to prove no exception with a very busy 2 days. In fact, I was the last car off the circuit on both days!! We were really lucky with the weather: a bad forecast proved incorrect with only the briefest of showers on the Sunday.

Although not taking part, nephew Tom & youngest son Chris asked me to attend the Warrington Speed Indoor Karting Centre. Both Tom & Chris are invaluable members of the DB Motorsport Team and are keen karters. They had entered 3 heats on of the popular “arrive & drive” nights. Between they dominated proceedings, with Chris taking 3 wins & 3 fastest laps, with his cousin Tom close behind on all three occasions. Looks like we might have a 4th generation …

Easter Monday and I was at Oulton Park undertaking some training on being a Control Supervisor. I had been asked several months previously if I would be able to lend a hand at some of the circuit’s busier meetings. The Monday saw the first round of the new British GT Championship, so large crowds were expected. After finishing training, I rounded off the day assisting fellow instructors & current North West FF1600 drivers: Dave Murphy and Jamie Jardine on the …

Saturday and I was back on “home turf” at the 3-Sisters circuit near Wigan a mere 30 minutes from home. Today’s occasion was another of the very popular Race School Supercar Experience Days. A lovely day weather wise certainly helped during a very busy day which saw more in one their fleet of Ferrari 360’s.

A couple of days after Donington, saw me head across to the circuit Trac Mon on Anglesey for one of BookaTrack’s popular Track Days. Although a Lotus day in general, there was a good mix of machinery. One vehicle I was lucky enough to head out onto the circuit in was a brand new Caterham 620R, that was an amazing piece of kit and very lively! Beautiful weather ensured the day was well received by all.

The first of this year’s corporate events kicked off with BookaTrack at Donington Park, their home circuit. A busy day out on track, meant having to have your eyes out on stalks to ensure some of the novice drivers got their allocated track time without compromising the more experienced drivers. A great day was had by all & I met a host of new clients as well as some familiar faces too. The day was hosted by Paul O’Neil ex-touring …
